Drake-A-Lator Video
Drake-A-Lator |
I was talking to Tom over at the Angler's Den today and we got to chatting about green drake patterns. It brought back to me a pattern I love to tie for a few different hatches including the drakes. I thought I would share this fly to give us a break from tying boring egg patterns and repetitive steelhead streamers. I fish this fly mainly as an attractor pattern year round in different colors but I tie it to match whatever big drakes may be coming off at any particular time and fish these generally in the evening when you start losing light. I'm not going to lie and say I catch tons of fish during a hatch with this pattern but I have noticed the fish I do catch are bigger. As far as the rest of the year this thing fishes pretty good as a hopper or other attractor pattern.
NOTE: this pattern is a Get Em Wet original, please give credit where credit is due.
