The Usual is a fly that Fran Betters developed based on the Haystack fly. There really is no difference between the two other than the fact that the Usual is tied with snowshoe rabbit foot. The best thing about this fly is that it floats like a cork, its very buggy and suggestive and its easy to tie. You will notice if you've tied this fly by the original recipe that I tie it slightly different and a little bit buggier. I just think the method shown in the video below is a bit faster and more appealing to the fish...enjoy.
