Late kings and big browns
It's been a long time since I posted but this tends to be a very busy time of year for me when I try to catch up on everything I put off during the regular trout season. I'm going to try to be better about it since I am getting caught up. Enough of that.
Although I don't generally fish a ton this time of year until after christmas when the crowds dwindle a bit, I do get out every now and than and I always get out there one final time before the last of Kings are gone. It's a cool time of year when you can catch decent amounts of browns, steelhead, and kings all in the same day. So when my old friends from the Angler's Den called me to ask if I wanted to join a group of them in my old stomping grounds of western New York, I jumped on the chance.
This year unfortunately it did not work out that way. The fishing for browns was excellent as can be expected but the first day I saw only one steelhead landed and no Kings at all save for one half dead fish I saw cruising about.

The second day on Sunday brought about a different story. The fishing was significantly less successful, it just shut off almost entirely but of all the fish my friends and I hooked that day the majority were steelhead. In the afternoon that changed again when a small run of fresh Kings pushed their way up river.
All in all it was an awesome couple of days. I try to never miss a chance to go on these group trips these days. What a great way to spend time with your friends, the fishing is secondary to me at this point in my life (at least when it comes to group trips like this) and this was a truly good time.
As mentioned before, the winter is fast approaching, and I fully expect to be getting out quite a bit. You should see more from me in the very near future.
Nice Matty!!!
